Tomio Nishimuta Memorial Fishing trip........Tuna !!!!!

I love fishing! It can be Largemouth Bass or Crappy, Rockfish or Palegic species. I love it. 

This year a friend of mine passed away. He loved to fish too.We met on a boat Skippered by his childhood friend Capt. David Ikeda, and fished the outer waters for Tuna and Yellowtail. Tomio was quite a charater. He was always pranking someone, or egging them on to joke around with someone. He was a direct kinda guy, but respected his elders, and tried to keep the generations fishing together. He had a hard last year, with a divorce and ailing real estate market (he was an agent), he came to me asking to pray for his situations. His father, another avid fisherman, contracted cancer during this time and the weight of his sorrow was heavy. He found peace with God through Jesus Christ and passed away from heart complications May 16th, 2012. His father followed him and passed away Sept.24th 2012. He and David asked me to take over his Charters aboard the "Endeavor" and so we fished the first annual "Tomio Nishimuta Memorial Fishing Charter".

I love the diversity of people from all over the world. Some are adventurers, tasting and looking for all the crazy things Los Angeles has to offer. Others are more curious, just want to see it from a distance, but are comforted by some familiar sights or sounds, or even cuisine served in a fasion they are familiar with. Fresh off the World Tour, "White Ribbon Day" Comes to town for a rest and relaxation stay in Sunny Southern California!

It was a great day of surf, sand and sun.







Shell collecting was a hit for Kayla as she had a great time with Sarah in the gentile summer swells.

Remembering why I Travel to surf............

 

 I think I travel to surf to be with friends and to create a camaraderie or relationship that is hard to come by in this "hussle and bussle" world we live in.We get a chance to let go of the pressures our society puts on us, work, family, friends, and what or whoever we allow access into our microcosm.To Surf a place or wave I never had seen before or ever could have thought of, each one distinctive in it's own way. 

 To eat a food I never thought of as being food, or see the Good Ole' USA from another mans view. One not so positive and having compassion over what they have struggled through.

To meet people I can instantly say "he's my friend" and mean it. Good people with servants hearts. Sure many are paid to do the job, but come on who couldn't love "Chancho", "Monkey", and "Mucho"

Where else could you find how much can your body take until it yields to the constraints of its physical boundaries.

  In the end I take it as God letting me loose to enjoy all that He has made. And even then still have some dessert.

Jack Pot Tuna Time! Summer fun with Endeavor Sportfishing!

 Blessings from above come in many ways!  Here is my 32.5 lb jackpot blue fin tuna. Actually I Tossed a bait towards a Kelp paddy hoping for a small yellowtail, and ended up hooking this bluefin on a 9ft rod and 25# test Izor XXX. Long rod + tuna = butt whopping, 20 minutes later we gaffed him.

 Here is Capt. Ikeda (rt.) and the Charter Master Jon Nakano on the way home from a successful trip. Smiles and gratitude!

 

 Here's my catch minus  two yellowtail I gave to less fortunate fishermen. Every one came home with fish! This Charter has a bunch of great guys and some decent fishermen. The larger Yellowtail came on a Tady C off of a Kelp paddy. They were eatin' the sardine really good, but if you got a jig in their face early in the bite the big ones came out to eat the iron.

 Here are Travis (left), and my brotha' from anotha' mutha' , AKA Dyron holding up some fresh fish ready to fillet for their customers at the end of the first day of fishing.








Below is Travis and Andy cutting the catch on the second day. Great crew, great Boat, good friends and fresh fish. Now that's a great trip!

New gates and side fence for the front house...

 Termites are busy little bugs! Still, I have to count my blessings knowing the last fence served its time for 12 years! The frame is done and now the finishing touches begin. touches of art will begin to show themselves as time goes by. The little sunshine door stop is a carved redwood and acrylic peice.
